Revised Guidance on the Councillors' Code of Conduct

1st September 2017

The Standards Commission recently reviewed and updated the revised Guidance on the Councillors' Code of Conduct to ensure it remains fit for purpose. The latest version, which incorporates the Code, comes into effect from 1 September 2017. The changes have also been made to the standalone version and both can be found on the Standards Commission’s website at http://www.standardscommissionscotland.org.uk/guidance/guidance-notes.

No substantive amendments to the Guidance have been made. However, some of the guidance notes have been clarified in in light of feedback and queries received. The case illustrations have also been updated to reflect recent Hearings.

The Standards Commission will continue to review the Guidance on a regular basis and we welcome any additional feedback, comments or suggestions as to how it can be further improved. These can be sent to: enquiries@standardscommission.org.uk
